2018 wedding season is starting to get hot and heavy and with that we are ushering out the 2017 wedding trends and replacing them with new trends that focus on providing unique guest experiences. 2017 saw bright floral designs and the use of gold, brass, and pewter metallic accents. This year brides and wedding planners are looking for ways to bring nature closer to the event and providing unique guest experiences. Here are our 9 predictions for 2018.
New uses for Greenery
With the prime season of spring and summer wedding right around the corner get ready to see new uses of greenery during outdoor events. Outdoor bars may include greenery grown directly into the woodwork. Potted plants will be used for aisle decorations. Brides and wedding planners will come up with other unique ideas to bring nature closer than ever.
Another level of entertainment
We have moved beyond the days of having a DJ or band be the solo form of entertainment. In recent years we have seen other forms of entertainment start to pop up at weddings such as photo booths. This year brides and wedding planners are getting creative and starting to bring in new forms of entertainment such as caricature artists, palm readers, fortune tellers and even acrobats. For destination weddings, brides are looking to bring the local culture into their weddings to add a new spice.
Get ready for darker colors
Last year we saw a great deal of brighter floral designs often sitting in long vases. This year colors will take a turn towards darker and moodier colors. Instead of the towering centerpieces, brides will opt for centerpieces that sit closer to the table allowing more direct lines of vision for guests.
Adding a bit more texture
Brides are turning away from the classic white linens and adding more texture and patterns to their event. Yu will notice a great deal more details in the table settings and in some cases you will see 2-3 different designs incorporated throughout the wedding making tables themselves more unique.
New spin on outdoor tents
Keeping with the theme of bring nature closer to the wedding event, translucent tents will be popular for outdoor weddings allowing the beauty that surrounds to become part of the reception. Within those tents you may also find marble dance floors where wooden ones used to be prevalent.
Candles get a bit more colorful
Although there will be a turn towards darker floral arrangements we expect to see a splash of color added with the use of candles replacing the classic white.
Getting unique with invitation, place cards, and menus
Stationary items such as invitations, place cards, and menus will have a little spice to them this year with added elements such as melted wax. Wedding planners and brides will be looking for unique touches to give guests a custom experience.
Florals from above
Tall people beware….tall lavish centerpieces may be last years trend, but they are being replaced by elegant hanging floral designs. Sticking with the theme of bringing nature closer, these floral designs will leave guests flabbergasted.
Dessert Tables continue to evolve
An ongoing trend that is carrying over from the last few years are larger desert tables with more options. Gone are the years of a single wedding cake. Get ready for more unique dessert options that will have guests’ salivating.
2018 is going to be an exciting year! Have fun with your wedding ideas and make the experience your own.
